Combining the gut-level force of punk with the anthemic political fervor of U2 and The Alarm, as well as the urban protest folk of Billy Bragg, NMA sounded like few other bands mining similar post-punk territory. Founded in 1980 in Bradford, England by Justin Sullivan, Stuart Morrow and Phil Tompkins, NMA have soldiered on through numerous setbacks and tragedies (including the deaths of original drummer Robert Heaton, and longtime band manager Tommy Tee in 2004 and 2008, respectively), each time emerging stronger and more determined.
Today Is A Good Day, New Model Army’s 11th studio album, will be released this coming Monday in the UK (9/15 in the USA) and in honor if that occasion, none other than Justin Sullivan will join Jack Rabid for what promises to be a fascinating conversation about one of the world’s most enduring and uncompromising rock bands.
